The Advisory Board Centre is proud to be partnering with the Queensland Government to support Female Founders to access the skills, knowledge and networks they need to increase competitiveness, foster innovation and drive economic impact through effective engagement with Advisors.

The Female Founders Advisory Board program is focused on increasing the participation rates and business skills of female founders in Queensland along with providing support to female founders who are in the growth phase and need assistance to achieve their ambitions.

The Female Founders Advisory Board Programs and corresponding eligibility criteria are listed below.

 

Advisory Board Essentials Program

This program is designed for female business owners with high growth aspirations.  Research has identified that 88% of business owners need assistance gaining clarity on their ambitions and the type of support they need along the way.  The Female Founders Advisory Board Essentials program is designed provide the confidence, skills and exposure to business owners to learn:

  • The “Make or Break” points of business growth and exit considerations
  • How to engage effectively with Advisors to support your business
  • Appropriate Governance structures with best practice foundations
  • How to close the knowledge gap between where you are today and where you want your business to be in the future.

The Female Founders Advisory Board Essentials program session will be held in June 2019, September 2019 and March 2020.  Additional dates for FY21 will be announced.  The program is a 1/2 day workshop where you will have the opportunity to connect and network with other female founders from across Queensland.  The program is open to eligible participants from across Queensland.

Program Eligibility Criteria:

  • Participating individual must identify as female and hold the position of Founder, Co-Founder, Owner or Director
  • have a minimum trading history of 12 months at the time of application
  • have a minimum turnover of $500,000 for the last financial year
  • be experiencing business growth and have clearly defined high-growth and employment opportunities in Queensland
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • have Queensland headquarters
  • have a business that is innovative, unique and/or technology focused
  • not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are an undischarged bankrupt.

Advisory Board Starter Program

The Female Founders Advisory Board Starter program guides ambitious Queensland businesses to establish best practice governance & advisory foundations in the business to support their growth plans. The Advisory Board Starter program includes:

  • Structured 1:1 program with a Certified Chair which includes 3 outcomes focused meetings over a 90 day period
  • Business diagnostics to provide clarity on business priorities and areas of focus
  • Evaluation of governance structures and best practice foundations to support your ambitions
  • Guidance on establishment of Advisory Board structure including Charter, advisor profiles and supporting documentation

The Female Founders Advisory Board Essentials program can be delivered in Brisbane or via remote delivery.  The program is open to eligible participants from across Queensland.

Program Eligibility Criteria:

  • Participating individual must identify as female and hold the position of Founder, Co-Founder, Owner or Director
  • have a minimum trading history of 2 years at the time of application
  • have a minimum turnover of $500,000 for the last financial year
  • have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and be registered for GST
  • have Queensland headquarters
  • be experiencing growth and have clearly defined high-growth and employment opportunities in Queensland
  • have a business that is innovative, unique and/or technology focused
  • not be insolvent or have owners/directors that are an undischarged bankrupt.
